I enjoy working at the Gay Couples Institute because I enjoy positively helping other gay couples with their relationship; that I had a small part to help them get along better, communicate better, maybe even last long term. I also use the skills I teach in my own relationship, so I know it works even if you don't get it perfect.

The reason I work at the Gay Couples Institute is to be a part of a team of professionals who work to provide outstanding and exceptional therapy to couples in the LGBT community. The Gay Couples Institute uses the Gottman Method, a research based therapy, giving clients a solid foundation for improving their relationships. I enjoy working with couples and having the opportunity to bring the services of the Gay Couples institute to San Diego. Please feel free to call me or send an email for more information about getting started.

The reason why I work at the Gay Couple's Institute is to fulfill my passion of working in English or Spanish with couples that represent diverse backgrounds. My experience working with children, adults, families, as well as with Gottman's Couple Therapy has provided me with a thorough basis to address unique issues that gay couples face. I work at GCI because I want to help couples develop the skills to overcome relationship obstacles and thrive. The Gottman approach offers solid relationship tools for phenomenal transformations. I've worked with lgbt couples for more than a decade across two continents and believe that developing stable relationships becomes a foundation to many other doors opening.

The reason I work at the Gay Couples Institute is to be part of an organization that is contributing positively to the LGBT community through improving relationships. The Gottman Method is research-based therapy that can give couples the tools to better their relationships. It is important to me that couples are learning skills that have been shown to work. The best part about working at the Gay Couples Institute is seeing the moment when a couple realizes their relationship has an exciting future ahead.

San Francisco Clinic - Alapaki Yee, MFT / Salvatore Garanzini, MFT

Alapaki Yee & Salvatore Garanzini

We created the Gay Couples institute to give local gay and lesbian couples access to great therapy. We disagreed with many of the things our friends were being told in their own relationship therapy. In fact, some of those things they were told by other clinicians were fundamentally inaccurate and not based on any research. The Gottman Method seemed like a logical choice. We completed the advanced training in the Gottman Method, and Salvatore is now one of about 150 therapists worldwide who can call themselves a Certified Gottman Therapist. He teaches this method to other therapists, and is a faculty member at the University of San Francisco. Alapaki works in individual therapy mainly with gay men having a relationship problem at home. For more information on the Gay Couples Institute, take a look at how we have been mentioned in the media, and especially our Washington Post article here...
