Gay Couples Institute: Creating Healthy Gay and Lesbian Partnerships... One Family At A Time

Relationship Clinic

Gay couples often try to take on their relationship problems alone.

What most people don't appreciate, though, is that they're often successful. They learn to get through difficult times, to sort out disagreements, and they come out stronger on the other side.

What they don’t realize is that by going it alone they often don’t fully sort things out, and thus their process is incomplete. When things are incomplete, you have to come back and do them again later.

Or they experience a lot of pain along the way, inventing their own method for tackling issues. They take time outs when they needed another tool to keep talking. They keep talking when they should have taken a time out. When you use that approach, it feels like you’re wandering in the fog, wondering if your relationship is going to end in the process. How awful.

There must be an easier way.

What if there was an easier way, with a method for addressing any relationship’s issues? What if someone could almost hand you a roadmap and say, “Here, just do this.” You’d be curious as to where that map led, right? You might even be tempted to follow it…

Maybe it seems easy enough to figure out on your own, but our experience tells us otherwise. Even if you are successful, you have wasted each other’s time – time you could have been having fun, traveling, feeling like a team again. Hopefully this isn’t the case, but maybe you hit some bumps along the way. Someone got their feelings hurt, and trust has taken a hit. You needed a roadmap.

There are plenty of counselors out there, and depending on where you live, there are plenty of gay therapists and counselors out there. The problem is that their method has no proven success rate, and they have no idea if their former clients are still together. (If you were in their shoes, wouldn’t you want to know if you’re doing a good job?)

Other counselors follow no systematic assessment of your situation. Imagine this: You walk into your doctor’s office, and the nurse checks your temperature with a thermometer under your tongue. This seems pretty normal. Then the next time she takes it by putting the thermometer under your arm, and the results are different. She says you might be sick. The next time she puts the thermometer in your ear. The results are different again. Would you trust her measuring technique? No way. Would you go back again? Probably not. She has given you bad information (that you’re sick), and wasted your time. This is precisely what happens with many couples who see your average therapist. The therapist asks very basic questions to understand the situation, and never appreciates the breadth and depth of the issue you’re dealing with.

Your time is our primary focus.

We find that if we make good use of your time, we prevent the pain that comes from counseling going on longer than it should. We also get you both back to your lives; having fun, becoming allies, traveling, LIVING.

Our counseling fee is based on how much time you’d like to save in your process. If you want to progress quickly, you pay less. If you want it to go on forever, you pay more. ix. How do we do this in a timely fashion? We have a method, a process, which we follow. We are the only gay couples counseling clinic in the world. We use the only systematic method proven to accurately assess relationship stability. We give you the results in writing. Then you and your partner begin selecting from the sixty-four (64) different tools we have to fix your differences, and make your relationship fun again, and to start addressing your issues better than how it normally would have gone at home.
